Leah Moon

Home Manager

Leah Moon

I started in care at 18 as a community care worker, progressing into residential care and continuing my journey into management within residential and dementia care settings. During that time, I gained extensive knowledge and qualifications that I have used throughout my management career.

It is a pleasure to join a team with strong values and supportive systems in place. I am committed to ensuring that Cayton View is the first choice for those seeking care in our community and to assisting quickly and efficiently with any questions or enquiries that may arise.

Customer Relations Manager

In my role, I believe it’s important to be empathetic, engaging and a good listener. Clear communication is key, as well as being adaptable and able to multitask while maintaining high standards. My favourite part of the day is meeting residents and hearing their stories. I love chatting to them about their families, their hobbies and the holidays they have enjoyed.

I am proud to represent Care UK and to support families at such an important time of their lives. Being able to welcome people to Cayton View and guide them through their journey from first enquiry to moving in is a joy. It’s a real privilege to work in a beautiful home, showcasing all the rooms, dining facilities and lounges and I class myself very lucky to be able to call this my workplace.

Outside work, I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family. Much of my week is spent supporting my daughter at competitive swim training, often from early morning starts to long weekends at competitions.

Victoria Gidman
Victoria Gidman
Lifestyle Lead

I spent 19 years working as an interior designer in London. It was a career I loved and it taught me so much about creativity, people and making a space feel special. Over time my own interests and passions began to change, and I found myself drawn more towards wellbeing and helping people feel their best.

Alongside my role here, I manage my own yoga business and teach classes. As part of that, I run groups for ladies going through the menopause and offer lifestyle advice as well as organising retreats for them. I'm also studying Ayurveda, which is known as the ‘knowledge of life’ or the ‘science of longevity’.

I joined Cayton View because I wanted to bring all of these experiences together in a setting where I could work with people on a more personal level. I particularly love helping residents with their daily exercises and seeing the progress they make, however big or small.

I feel very lucky that my career has taken me through such different chapters. Now, I’m doing something I'm truly passionate about. It is incredibly rewarding to see the positive difference my work makes to the lives of residents.

Care Manager

I started my career in care working within the community, I then moved to a care home setting. I relocated to Scarborough because I wanted to be part of the exciting journey of opening a brand-new care home, Cayton View.

I love my role as Care Manager, and I work alongside a brilliant team. Everyone here is dedicated to ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care. It is so important to all of us that everyone living here feels happy, safe and well supported.

Away from work, my family and three dogs are my world. I love spending quality time with them and making memories.

Unit Manager

I’ve worked in care since I was 15 years old, progressing from Carer to my current role as Unit Manager. I genuinely love coming to work. Caring for others and supporting residents is a privilege and I get a great sense of job satisfaction.

I lost my own grandparents at a young age, so I often think of residents as my adopted grandparents. Building relationships with them and getting to know their stories is one of the things that I love the most about my job.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and our dog. I also love it when I get the chance to get away – sunshine, relaxing and making memories are definitely my idea of a good time.

Unit Manager

I've worked in care for 17 years, starting my journey at just 18 as a Care Assistant. Fast forward all those years and now I’m incredibly proud to be Unit Manager here at Cayton View.

What I love most about my role is knowing that every day I have the opportunity to make a positive difference to residents' lives. No two days are ever the same, and it’s the little moments that make the job so rewarding.

When I'm not at work, I love travelling, getting out for long walks and eating out.

Head Chef

After leaving school, I spent 14 years working on trawlers, followed by three years working on oil rigs, including time in the Shetland Islands. I then decided it was time for a change and went to college to study catering and hospitality.

From there, my career in catering took me all over the UK and I’ve had the privilege of cooking for some truly memorable people. Over the years I’ve cooked for the likes of James Martin, Lord and Lady Normandy, the Canadian ambassador and even actor Stanley Tucci (known for The Devil wears Prada and The Hunger Games). But I’d say one of the biggest highlights of my career was having the incredible opportunity to cook for royalty, and meet Princess Margaret.

I chose to join the team here at Cayton View as I felt it was time to put down some roots. I love my job, and my favourite part is seeing residents happy and enjoying their food. I’m lucky to have the support of a fantastic team and I’m incredibly proud of the food we create every day.

Stef Baxter
Stef Baxter
Head Housekeeper

My career started in hair and beauty, where I spent over 20 years teaching before running my own business. I then moved into management roles within the cleaning industry. After several years working in industrial settings, I was ready for something a little more personal.

I love working at Cayton View. You need to be adaptable because you never quite know what the day will bring when you walk through the door.

My favourite part of the job is spending time chatting with our residents. It is always lovely to hear their stories and get to know them. We have so many wonderful personalities here which makes Cayton View such a special place to work.

Gavin Wakeman
Gavin Wakeman
Head of Maintenance

I spent 24 years in the military before moving into facilities management for the local council. Later, I became a Health and Safety Manager and Auditor at a bakery. All my work experience has been valuable, and I’ve been able to bring a wide range of transferrable skills to my new role here at Cayton View.

One of the best things about my job is being able to help residents settle in. Small tasks like hanging pictures for them, rearranging furniture means a lot, and ensures everyone feels comfortable right from the start.

I’m a huge Scarborough RUFC fan, so when I am not at work, you’ll usually find me cheering from the sidelines. If I’m not doing that, I’ll be spending precious time with my two young grandsons.

Receptionist

Many of my previous roles revolved around person centred care. Before joining Care UK, I was a Work Coach supporting vulnerable people. I helped to build their confidence so they could make empowered decisions for their own wellbeing. Throughout my career, I have always chosen to support people from all walks of life with kindness and empathy.

I would say that my favourite part of the day is meeting and talking with both residents and their families. I love hearing people’s stories and believe patience and warmth can make a real difference to someone’s day.

I am new to the Scarborough area, and absolutely love being outside walking on the beaches and exploring all of the beautiful parks.
