Kate Bull

Home Manager

Kate Bull

Hi, I’m Kate, I joined Care UK nearly 10 years ago as a nurse and have since progressed from Registered Nurse to Deputy Manager – Clinical and now Home Manager at Larkland House.

I’m a Registered Nurse (RGN) and have completed NVQ Level 5, Best Interest Assessor (BIA) training and the Future Home Manager Programme, alongside ongoing leadership, clinical and care training.

I have always been passionate about caring for older people and wanted to work somewhere where residents are treated as individuals and can feel safe, respected and at home. I’m proud of the opportunities Care UK has given me to develop and grow throughout my career.

I believe a Home Manager needs to be caring, approachable and passionate, with good communication skills and the ability to lead by example. Supporting and empowering colleagues to develop their skills and confidence is also very important to me.

My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and the team. I love seeing residents happy and comfortable and working together with colleagues, relatives, friends and the local community to make Larkland a welcoming place to live and work.

One of my biggest career highlights has been progressing from a nurse to Home Manager at Larkland House. Having been part of the home for nearly 10 years, I’m proud to continue my journey here with residents and colleagues who mean so much to me.

Outside of work, family is the most important thing to me. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and making memories together.

Head Chef

I’ve worked as a Head Chef for many years in Poland and the UK. My aim is always to get to know residents, their likes and dislikes, and to gain their feedback so I can create varied, high quality dishes that they’ll love. The more information they can give me, the better.

I’m often out on the floor at mealtimes, chatting to residents, and I’m involved in each resident’s regular care review. That’s my opportunity to find out what they’d like to see more of on the menu. I always act quickly to make changes, so residents can enjoy healthy home-cooked meals tailored to their needs and tastes.

In my spare time I enjoy playing football with my sons. I also have a green belt in karate!

Claudia Kalmar
Claudia Kalmar
Unit Manager

Hi, I’m Claudia, before coming to the UK and joining the care sector, I worked as a Pharmacy Assistant. Since then, I’ve developed my knowledge and experience within care and progressed into my current role as Unit Manager. I have completed all mandatory and role-specific training, alongside additional professional development, including a Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Management.

I chose to work at Care UK because I wanted to continue developing my career within the care sector and be part of a team focused on providing good quality, person-centred care.

I believe you need to be organised, approachable, patient and a good communicator in my role. It’s also important to stay calm under pressure, support your team and always keep residents’ needs at the centre of what you do.

My favourite part of the day is spending time on the floor with residents and the team. I enjoy speaking with residents, seeing how they are doing and making sure they receive the care and support they need.

I’m proud of progressing within the care sector and becoming a Unit Manager, while continuing to develop my knowledge and experience. Seeing residents well cared for and knowing the team is working together to meet their needs is particularly rewarding.

Outside of work, I enjoy shopping, listening to music, dancing and travelling.

Eloise Hart
Eloise Hart
Lifestyle Lead

Hi, I’m Eloise, I started my journey at Larkland House as a Care Assistant, which gave me a great understanding of our residents and their individual needs. I then moved into activities and have continued to learn and develop in my role as Lifestyle Lead.

I wanted a role where I could make a difference to residents’ days, helping them stay active, involved and connected with the things that are important to them. I believe you need to be creative, positive and a good listener, as activities are about understanding each resident, their life story and interests and finding ways to make their days meaningful.

Seeing residents smile and enjoy themselves is the best part of my role, whether it’s during a big event or something simple that makes their day special.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going for walks, keeping active at the gym and, when I get the chance, enjoying a cheeky holiday!

Hi, I’m Manuel and I’ve worked at Larkland House since 2012 and have gained lots of experience during this time. I’ve completed training relevant to my role and am also proud to be an IPC Champion, supporting good infection prevention and control practices across the home.

I enjoy being around people and working as part of a team. I like knowing that my work helps our residents have a clean, comfortable and welcoming place to live. Hi, I’m Francis and I’m part of the maintenance team at Larkland House. I’ve worked here since 2014 and have completed a variety of training to support my role. Working at Larkland House for many years has also given me valuable hands-on experience and knowledge.

I enjoy working in a role where every day can be different. I like practical work and knowing that what I do helps make the home a better place for our residents. I enjoy the variety, whether it’s repairing something, improving an area of the home or helping a resident or colleague with a problem.

I think you need to have a good eye for detail, be able to think on your feet, and be dependable and willing to help. Keeping the home safe has to come first, and I want our residents to live in an environment that is well looked after, comfortable and somewhere they can feel at home.

Being at Larkland House since 2014 is an achievement in itself. I’ve seen many changes over the years and have enjoyed being part of the home throughout them. It’s rewarding to see the result of something I’ve repaired or improved, knowing that my work contributes to residents having a comfortable place to call home.

Outside of work, family is very important to me. I enjoy spending quality time with them, travelling back home, catching up with family and friends, and enjoying time away.

Wally
Wally
Canine Relations Manager

Hi, I’m Wally and  I’m professionally trained in tail wagging, treat detection and finding the person most likely to give me attention. I’ve also had many years of advanced training in looking adorable. I am VERY experienced!
I’m Linda’s dog, but when I arrive at Larkland House, I become everybody’s dog. My main responsibilities are meeting and greeting, checking all departments and making sure residents and the team are smiling.

I love working at Care UK because the people are lovely, the residents make a fuss of me and there’s always a good chance of a treat. My favourite part of the day is my walk around Larkland, where I visit residents, check what everyone is doing and stop for plenty of attention.

Outside of work, I love walkies, muddy puddles and anything that means I might need a towel afterwards. I also enjoy visiting my vet – mainly because she gives me LOTS of treats!

I’m proud to be one of the most recognised members of the Larkland House team. I don’t even need an ID badge – everyone already knows Wally!

Wally’s motto: More walkies. More cuddles. More treats. Less baths.

Monika Gyawali
Monika Gyawali
Clinical Lead

I’ve developed my nursing career at Larkland House and have completed a range of clinical and leadership training throughout my career. I believe learning never stops and enjoy developing my own knowledge while supporting others to grow.

I chose to work at Care UK because I wanted to make a positive difference to people’s lives. I particularly enjoy supporting colleagues, sharing my knowledge and seeing them grow in confidence.

I believe a Nurse Manager needs to be caring, confident, calm and a strong leader. Listening, making decisions and leading by example are all important.

I’m proud when I see our team working together to provide excellent care, and when colleagues develop and progress with my support. The most important part of my role is ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate and high-quality care, while supporting our team to keep learning and developing.

Outside of work, I enjoy watching cricket, spending time with family, travelling and experiencing different cultures. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Montenegro and many places around Europe. I also enjoy fashion and trying different styles.
