Our friendly and experienced team supports each resident to live as independently and actively as possible, enjoying fulfilling experiences every day. You’ll often find us all working together on interesting projects, like doing arts and crafts or putting on a show. Residents can do as much or as little as they wish: they can lead an activity, help around the home or simply relax in the comfort of their bedroom.

Here are just some of the comments we’ve received from family, friends and residents at Laurel Dene care home.

The home is very welcoming to new residents, and it's such a friendly atmosphere whenever I visit. The team treats residents as individuals rather than patients, and they seem to know everyone really well. It's not just superficial politeness. They have regular relative meetings, which I'm invited to, and the unit manager and the team leader always update me on matters concerning my loved one. She is looking much happier and healthier than when she was living alone, that's for sure, and that says it all really.

It's a friendly place and the team has always been kind, patient and respectful in my experience. They certainly have our best interests at heart and they genuinely care about my loved one. They know how much I miss her and they are wonderful at keeping me informed about how she's getting on. They will call with updates when I'm not able to visit, and I'm always consulted if they feel something needs to be changed. I'm very much a part of the team in that respect, and I know they are there for me if I need to discuss anything.

My loved one had slowly been losing his dignity as his physical condition deteriorated at home and he became less able to take care of himself. What I observed when he went into the home is that he started to feel more at peace about everything… he seemed happier in himself… he was dressed nicely each day and made to feel important... the team there would spend time with him, so he wasn't alone anymore... they have been marvellous with him.

The carers are wonderful – all around wonderful, terrific! They are very kind, well trained, they have lovely temperaments and they all socialise with my loved one... they chat like old friends, and they make her feel special and loved.

We are very pleased with how our loved one is looked after. We couldn’t wish for more. She receives 24-hour care and the team members are all so encouraging of her. They spend a lot of time one on one with her, and the new activity team has been fantastic at getting her motivated and involved in things. There are regular activities that families can participate in too... it's always fun. We're there again next week.
